You can use Essayer for trying anything, not just clothes ! If you’re trying to do something, then be sure to add our little verb connection: Essayer de.

• Je voudrais essayer de payer avec mon téléphone. I would like to try to pay with my phone.

Chances are, they won’t fit on the first go. In that case, you may use our basic word “avoir”

• Vous l’avez en M ? Do you have it in M ?
• Vous l’avez en plus grand / petit ? Do you have it in bigger / smaller ?
